Hello there — I'm Chuen.

Software engineer by day. In my spare time, I make videos about the tech

I’m a software engineer with over twenty years in the industry, based in London, working a fairly ordinary 9–5. If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be pointing a camera at myself and putting videos out into the world, I’d have laughed. But here we are.

Why YouTube?

I started partly as a creative outlet, partly to scratch an itch, and partly out of plain “how hard can it be?” And yes — the whole “internet money” idea had its attractions. Who hasn’t wondered whether any of it is actually real?

So I wanted to find out for myself:

  1. How hard is it really to start a channel when there are already so many?
  2. Could I do it around a full-time 9–5?
  3. Is there real money in this — and how much?
  4. Could it ever replace the day job entirely?

A few years, a fair number of mistakes, and a lot of learning later, I can answer the first three. Number four? Not yet. If I ever get there, I’ll let you know how.

How I approach it

The channel is small, and I’m okay with that. I generally talk about gear I genuinely use and would spend my own money on. I write my own scripts, and try not to waste your time. If something isn’t worth it, I’ll say so. No hustle culture, no secret formula. Just an engineer figuring it out in the open, one video at a time.

Every so often I share what I’m learning as I go - behind the scenes, the odd brand deal, the equipment, what’s worked and what hasn’t. And if you ever thought about starting a channel of your own, this may be of interest to you.
